The procedure involves either injecting or topically applying your own platelets to stimulate collagen formation.  “Growth factors” contained in platelets activate and rejuvenate cells in our body. When platelets are used for the cosmetic treatment of the face, arms, and neck, the body is tricked into triggering the production of collagen, which gives your skin a smoother, fuller appearance.

People who what to add volume to their skin, reduce fine lines, and/or improve their skin texture are excellent candidates for PRFM therapy.

WHAT IS THE SELPHYL® PRFM SYSTEM?

The SELPHYL® System is designed for the safe and rapid preparation of Platelet-rich Fibrin Matrix (PRFM) from a small sample of blood at the patient point of care. Many PRP systems require operator skill, have varying results and have extensive contamination with red blood cells and white blood cells. SELPHYL® removes virtually all contaminating cells and is independent of operator technique. PRP is converted to PRFM through a controlled process, creating a scaffold that serves to protect and preserve platelets.

The PRFM Facelift uses platelet –rich fibrin matrix (PRFM), along with dermal fillers to shape the face, improve facial volume, and stimulate collagen formation for longer lasting results. A small blood sample is taken then carefully separated into an injectable Platelet-rich Fibrin Matrix.  Once the serum is prepared, it is injected into the problem area.  It can also be used in combination with dermal filler for a more immediate response. Minimal downtime is seen. Patients may experience temporary swelling, bruising and/or redness. Typically 2-4 treatments are needed, 4 weeks apart. Maximum benefits seen at 6 months. 

 

The PRFM Facial  uses platelet-rich fibrin matrix (PRFM) in conjunction with microneedling to improve skin texture, tone, and discoloration. “Growth factors” contained in platelets activate and rejuvenate cells in our body. When platelets are used for the cosmetic treatment of the face, arms, and neck, the body is tricked into triggering the production of collagen, which gives your skin a smoother appearance.

A small blood sample is taken then carefully separated into a Platelet-rich Fibrin Matrix. Once the serum is prepared, it is then applied topically to the problem area and a microneedling device is used to push the serum into the skin at various depths. Minimal downtime is expected.  Patients typically experience 2-4 days of skin redness, mild swelling.  Typically 2-4 treatments are needed, 4 weeks apart.  Immediate improvement in texture with maximum benefits seen at 6 months.

The results of PRFM therapy are not as permanent as a surgical procedure, but you can still expect to see an improved appearance for up to 18 months depending on the patient and the treatments/products used. Patients typically start with a series of 2-4 treatments and then receive maintenance treatments as needed, typically 1-2 times a year.
